Why won't my 5 disc cd player tray turn? Is it done for?

I have a 19 yo Sony CDP C70. just yesterday i opened it up, put some cds in it and a message came up saying "error" and NOTHING would move. I turned it off and on again, tried to change the cd but the tray refused to move. Just showed "error" again. Can it be fixed? Can I do it? I know it's old but this guys is the BEST I've ever had. Help!

If there any CD's in your cd player, because if so, there might be a jam in your player causing it to show ''error''.

Yes it can be fixed.

You might be able to do it. It depends on your abilities.

It could be a number of different things.

Jammed disk

Bad motor

Bad or broken drive belt

Dirty optics

These are the most likely. There may be others like broken wire, bad circuit, power surge, etc. hard to tell.

Most if not all these probs. will need the mach. to be dissambled to repair.
