Why won't my Blackberry Curve's media card format?

I inserted the card into the slot under the battery. I went to Options - Media Card.

My settings read:

Media Card Support: On

Encryption Mode: Device

Encrypt Media File: Yes

Mass Storage Mode Support: Off

When I try to 'Install Media Card' nothing happens.

When I try to 'Format Card' it says, "Media Card Format Failed".

i have a blackberry curve 8310 i insert a 8g media card it wont format ?

I took a 4GB SD card with tons of music from one Curve and put it into a new one. Wiorked fine the old one bit wouldn't work in the new one. I kept getting a message something like "Can't identify the format". I took out the battery and took out the SD card, waited a few minutes and then reinstalled both. Everything worked fine after that. Sounds like a dumb solution but it worked for my 8330.
