Question:

Why won't my Playstation One work?

I recently bought myself a new TV:

The TV works perfectly and so did the PS1 until I connected it to my new TV (worked perfectly on my very old telly.).

When it is all plugged in, the picture moves around the screen. It is hard to explain but it is like the TV is the inside of a treadmill, and the picture is running around on the belt.

There is colour and sound, but the picture doesn't stay still, it 'runs' up and down the screen.

(Sorry, it's really hard to explain.)

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Thanks.

  1. old cable

  2. i dunno, buy a ps3

  3. It's the cable. Don't worry, this is common with old PS1's because of the poor quality connector that goes into the switch-box.

  4. Don't worry about this!

It isn't your TV, for starters. We still play our old Sega Mega Drive on our TV, and that's older than the PS1!

To me, it sounds like the cable has come loose, or developed a fault. Try checking out Ebay for a new cable. I'm also pretty sure the newer built PS1's use the same cable as the PS2, so see if you can get a PS2 cable! Check out some local video games shops.

    Hope this helps,

    Tom.

  5. if you're thinking of buying a playstation 3 you should out this site first. they give you a ps3 for FREE! all you need to do is complete a few quick tasks for them.

  6. Sounds like the plug isn't quite in right. Doesn;t sound like a problem with the hardware, but possibly the wire if its in right.
