Question:

Why won't my Poulan Lawn Tractor move after being put in reverse?

I've had no problems with the mower at all until today, when I needed to back up and turn around. I stopped, turned the key to the "ROS" position, put the tractor in reverse and let out the clutch. Nothing, it didn't move. So I put it back in gear to go forward again, nothing, it didn't move. The motor continues to run, the tractor just doesn't move. It will roll when put in neutral.

  1. Check the drive belt.  Sounds like it broke or came off one of the pulleys.

  2. I'm not a pro on the Poulans, but I'd guess......

Check the drive belt, it may have broken.  Or the tension spring may have broken, allowing the drive belt to come off the pulley.
