Why won't my Sims 2 game install?

I had the original Sims 2 installed on my Dell computer at home. Yet when I uninstalled it to put it on my Dell laptop it won't install properly.

It stops working after you put in Disk 3. (It will not move from 49%!!!)Why won't it load?

Is there anything I can do to help it?

I bought it a couple years ago so I cannot exchange it.

PLEASE HELP!!!

  1. Make sure that it is not scratched. Wait a while. Maybe you should get a new one. Hope it works next. Bye

  2. Because that the computer probally 'read' the disc propely.

  3. i have been in your shoes before. Actually i have a dell laptop as well (inspiron 9300 to be exact), though my game usually stops around 25% on disk 2.

Play the matching game when you install. For whatever reason that's the only thing that will get my sims 2 to install properly every time. I'm not discounting the normal things that you should check for (scratched/dirty/damaged disks, dirt in the optical drive, etc), but for whatever reason if i don't play the stupid game, it doesn't work.

a tip before you try installing again, do a search for any folders that may have been installed before and delete them. the install wizard may be getting confused by the pre-existing folders.

    Hope this helps!
