Question:

Why won't my Sony Camcorder turn on?

I brought this as a project cheaply. It was spares/ repairs ( i know i'm a bit ambitious). Even with a new charged battery there is no sign of life from my DCR-TRV60E. Reseting does nothing. I don't have an a/c cable that fits the odd shaped sony A/C hole. No lights or anything happen. There is a tape still in the player but I can't get it out without power.

This is the main problem I want to figure out. I have wondered if maybe it is a bad connection on the switch itself. I can't open up the camera enough to have a look properly.

Another thing that happens is when the camera is tilted forwards and backwards the lens comes closer and further away from the inside at the front. As though it is zooming in and out form being tilted. I think I might be able to fix this though. That is not my primary concern right now.

Help anyone? :)

  1. I am sure you tried to wiggle the battery?  and everything else.

make sure the contacts for the battery are able to touch the receiving end on the battery

if the tape wont eject when the battery is in place, and the door is opened, then a serious circut board problem is probably a cause, I usually try to replace the small circut board close to the battery on the inside of the camera.

Thats where a fuse is located, I simply replace the whole circut board.  Then I replace the main circut board.

When you do these projects, best to start with 2 to 3 cameras of the same model/year/make.

    good luck!
