Why won't my XBOX 360 play any sound?

Question

My TV plays sound correctly and all of the AV jacks are connected into the correct holes, and have been reconnected. The wires in the back of the system have also been connected and reconnected but still there is no sound on my XBOX 360.

It is brand new, and the system was ran ONCE prior to the sound leaving. The day before today, the sound was playing fine and the XBOX was working correctly. We turned it on today and then all of a sudden the sound doesn't play anymore. Whats wrong?

I recently had that problem and minutes later I got the dreaded Red Ring of Death hardware failure.  If  you are not familiar with this then just type it into google, you will find an endless amount of info.  If u do get the Red lights on your x box, don't worry it is covered under warranty by microsoft
