I have an almost six month old american fuzzy lop, and she is perfectly healthy. I'm okay with them either way, but it's odd, so i'm curious to know why.

  1. I had one who's ears always stuck straight out to the sides like airplane wings.  I always assumed that he was a mix of another breed and I wasn't told

  2. too  much ear control in the lop breeds, more common in hollands and fuzzies than mini's and frenchies or of course english, is due to the lack of developement in the crown ( top of the head), and too short of ears....this is much more common in litters that were born in the winter as opposed to warmer weather litters..a narrow crown in the parents will cause greater ear control...too flat a crown will make the ears to airplane or stick out to the side...these are show faults and have nothing to do with animal health..though are undesirable breeding characteristics

  3. This is considered a breed fault. If the ears do not start to lop by 8 weeks of age, then they will not lop at all. Breeders do not want unlopped rabbits in their breeding pool. These rabbits should immediately be spayed/neutered. At six months of age her ears will not lop. If she was younger, there would still be a chance, but because she is this old without her ears lopping yet, they never will. By the age of 8 weeks the ears should at least begin to lop. At the age of 12 weeks they should be fully lopped.
