Why won't my avatar pic work?

I'm setting up an account for my sister and I can't get the avatar pic to work. I've set up a 360 page, fixed an avatar pic and put it on both the 360 page and the answers page. What gives? I also put for her email to show and that isn't working either.

  1. A link to your sister's Y/A profile would help in answering this question.

    1) However, you may be looking at an old version of the Y/A profile web page. So, do the following to clear out old content from your browser:

Before clearing cookies, make sure you know your passwords to sites.

    CACHE:

    In Internet Explorer, see http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/usin...

In Firefox, click the "Clear Cache Now" button under Tools > Options > Privacy > Cache.

In Safari, under the Safari menu is an option to Empty Cache; select this.

    COOKIES:

In Firefox, do this under Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies > Clear Cookies Now

In Internet Explorer, do this under Tools > Internet Options > General > Browsing History > Delete > Delete Cookies > Yes

In Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu and click Security. Click Show Cookies, then click the option to Remove cookies.

    Then, restart your computer.

    2) Make sure that you have done all of the below in terms of your sister's account. This only applies if you mean that you want to use an image you've uploaded to the 360 personal profile pic module and not a Yahoo! Avatar (http://avatars.yahoo.com ):

First, create a 360 space at http://360.yahoo.com . While logged into a yahoo service (mail, answers, whatever), type 360.yahoo.com in your web browser's address field (or just type 360 in a Yahoo! toolbar). Start creating your 360 space from there. Click the BIG YELLOW "Get Started" BUTTON on the far right section of that page.

After that, you can log in by by clicking on the teeny tiny "Sign-in" button on the upper left of the page. Then, the page refreshes and click on the teeny tiny "Yahoo 360 Home" link on the upper right of the page to get into the 360 space.

Make sure a JPEG formatted photo (with .jpg, .jpeg, .jpe extension) under 5MB is saved to your hard drive.

    - Click your "My Page" link at the top

    - Click "Edit Profile Photos" over the empty picture frame

    - Click "Browse" and upload photo into an empty field. Then click the "use as primary" radio button on the right of that image before saving.

You can't upload more than 4 profile pictures (this includes an avatar). Make sure that you are following the 360 Personal Photo guidelines here: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/360/gui... .

Then, come back to Yahoo! Answers. Make sure that you are using the same Yahoo ID in 360 as you are in Yahoo! Answers. Click the "My Profile" link to the upper right of this Yahoo! Answers page, then click "Edit My Info" in the top left box on the Answers profile page. Scroll down to the image section and check the option of showing the 360 picture. Click Preview and then the OK button. Then, WAIT.

NOTE: The image may not show up right away in Y/A, as it sometimes take days (and for some weeks) for the system to catch up. So, in the meantime, you will be without any picture on Y/A (blank, grayed out, messed up...whatever you want to call it). Just go through the above process and let your picture stay that way until the system makes your 360 image appear. If you don't want to wait, then just use a Yahoo! Avatar (http://avatars.yahoo.com ) and forget about using the 360 image feature.

Also, some people never see an image show up. You can always post a bug report (or piggyback on other's bug reports) on the issue (as well as the e-mail link problem) at the Y/A forum: http://suggestions.yahoo.com/?prop=answe... . This link between Y/A and Y!360 has been buggy for years.

    3) If your sister is under age 18, there are profile restrictions. For example, you may not be able to display her 360 link through the Y/A profile tools. Make sure to click on the "Public view of my profile" link in the Y/A profile before determining that getting the e-mail link to display is a lost cause.

  2. I don't even have a 360 page, just a simple yahoo profile and avatar, and I have been a member of yahoo since 1996 and can't get MY avatar to show up in YA.
