Why won't my baby box turtle eat anything but insects?

I've tried Tomatoes, berries, lettuce, and grass.... Can someone help me out?

  1. Turtles are mainly carnivores when they are babies, and eat more vegetation when they grow older, so i suggest for now feed the turtle mainly crickets, earthworms, mealworms, snails and other insects. The insects should be dusted with a powdered calcium supplement 2x weekly, and you should feed the turtle 2 times a day until he is 1 years old. Then you can feed less, one time a day, then later once every other day. But do continue to offer vegetables, but mainly offer dark leafy greens like kale, collard greens, romaine lettuce because they are loaded with calcium, vitamin a and d. Also give him a cuttlebone for extra calcium and make sure he has a good uvb light like Reptosun 5.0.
