Why won't my blackberry pearl let me access my songs on my media card?

Why does it take an act of congress to get my media card to work on my Blackberry Pearl? It shows files on it, but will not let me access the songs that were preloaded. IThe card worked easily on my nokia, but wtf ? I find it hard to believe that none of the files are compatable.

Did you use the media transfer program that came on the cd with your Pearl?  It makes the music compatible using the software.

You cannot take a media card from another phone and put it into the BB without FORMATTING it first.

You can format the card by going to Options > Media Card and then Format.

Copy your songs to your PC first from card before you format.

Once you format, you need to use the media manager (desktop manager)
