Why won't my boa use her hides?

I have a 6 month old boa she is eating and shedding fine, the tempatures and humidity of the tank are great(had it checked by a friend who breeds boas) but she refuses to use either of her hides, she'd rather curl up at the front of the viv. she was recently in a viv which I made myself and seemed to use the hides all the time until she got mites. I have sorted the mites problem now and she is in a new viv. She is a happy active snake and she's never been aggressive. I don't think this is a serious problem its just confusing that in one viv she used her hides in another she'd rather curl up at the front.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

  1. Does she curl up at the hot end of the viv or the cold end? If your snake isnt hiding, thats a good thing! It means it is happy, healthy and not scared! Hiding is a sign of illness! Perhaps the glass is one of the cooler parts of the viv and she wants to cool down? Again, I wouldnt worry!

  2. maybe in the snakes mind it thinks it got the mites in hide spots so it is scared to go in them? lol i dunno my red tail boa seldom uses his hides he just chills. ha im sure he is fine

  3. What kind of boa do you possess? This could play a factor in why you boa want use the hide. example if you have a sand boa it will like to hide in sand. other than that your snake might not like being in that part of the cage for what ever reason it's to hot or to cold, or your enclosure could be to small but remember every animal is different. As  long as your snake is eating drinking shedding and poo and peeing it should be fine though.
