Question:

Why won't my car play my burnt CD's?

I own a 1999 Nissan Patrol and recently tried to play some CD's that I burnt using the program Roxio which has an option to burn Mp3's for Car stereos. However, after having completed this, I tried the Cd's in my car and they didn't work. Some came up with error, others just had the first track playing without any sound coming out and it wouldn't let me skip to another track. When I tried it on my CD player, it worked fine as it did in my friends 2007 Barina. Is it just my car stereo or is there something wrong with the format I am burning my CD's in?

  1. i havent read the other answers but i can say its probably because you have a older stereo that doesnt support mp3 files and so there for its not going to play... either update your stereo or find another way to play them in ur car...

  2. You also need to make sure you are using the right type of CD and it is possible that even with the right CD (for music) and with uncompressed (not MP3) files you may still not get your 1999 stereo to play your burned CD files. It's pretty common in older cars that they simply can't read the burnt CDs.

  3. most older cars (like 1999) can not play CD with MP3 FORMAT.  The MP3 format became popular long after 1999.  And many older CD player (home, portable, etc.) cannot play home burned CD correctly (or at all).

So burn it with traditional CD format (ISO 9660 -  I think).

    Good Luck...
