Question:

Why won't my car start when its hot out?

I just asked this question but I forgot to mention that it will turn over but it just wont start. Its a 92 Honda Accord and it seems that whenever it gets hot out it wont start until the sun goes down and it cools off. Other than that the car runs fine and usually starts right up without a problem.

What could be the problem?

I would like to avoid going to a mechanic and fix it myself if I can.

  1. i would say fuel pump failing..(electric components such as motors lose power when they get hot... fuel pumps are electric motor driven .).

  2. because its a honda get a toyota

  3. Some of the late 80's and early 90's Honda's had a problem with the main relay in hot weather. As Far as I know, if you replace the main relay with a new one, the problem should desist.

Don't know for sure though, i'm not a mechanic.
