Why won't my computer allow me to download Active X or Adobe 9 flashplayer ?

  1. Most likely on some computers is that you need to be the Admin to install such software. If you own a computer with multiple accounts, make sure yours is an Admin.

    If you use a PC, click on the Start button. Click Control Panel. Then click on Users and Accounts. Click yours. Then you can change your account type from "Limited" to "Admin".

    If you use a Mac like me, click on System Preferences on your Dock or Applications folder. Click Accounts. To enable changes, you need to click on the lock on the bottom left hand corner. You will need to type in an Admin username and password for it to unlock. Next click your account. Next, check the "Allow user to administer this computer". Then you can click the bottom left hand corner lock to lock it up again. Notice that the options have been grayed out. You are now a User Admin!
