Why won't my computer read discs?

I received an eMachines computer last Christmas, but a couple of months ago, it just stopped reading any discs, DVDs or CDs. It just doesn't acknowledge that it's in it. How do I fix it?

first do a online virus scan here are some sites to try TrendMicro.com...Safety.Live.com this is Microsoft...Symantec.com you should have some support options from Microsoft if not complain about it
