Question:

Why won't my computer recognize my flip video camcorder?

Just purchased a flip video camcorder ( one of the older ones, not those ultras) with 512mb of internal memory. I purchased it off of eBay, and it works perfectly fine. It did not, however, come with the software. I didn't believe that the software was necessary. My computer won't recognize it, but the camcorder says "connected" when it is plugged in. Is the software that comes with it necessary? Or am I doing something wrong? If the software is necessary, could somebody please tell me where I can get it (preferably for free); if I'm just doing something wrong, can somebody please tell me what I am doing wrong?

  1. Try windows explorer:

connect vcam via usb cable : copy thru win explorer:

On pc bottom left: click Start >> then click My Computer; windows explorer opens

On the right portion appears >> Hard Disk Drives, etc.; then >> Devices w/ Removable Storage - the location where most probably you'll find your >> hdd vcam or mem card- w/some ID- brand?

Double click on it, locate your video/picture files and copy/ paste to >> my Documents/my videos (my pictures) located above Hard Disk Drives.
