Question:

Why won't my computer work when connected to the Internet?

My computer works fine as long as I have wireless Internet disabled. I've used it for hours at a time that way. As soon as I enable the wireless, it will run for about 10-15 minutes before it completely locks up - no mouse movement, no keyboard functionality.

I have tried several virus scanners and spyware scanners, but nothing has solved the problem. Please help me - I'm going CRAZY!!!

I'm using my husband's computer right now but I really want mine to be fixed.

  1. As a first guess I would say that it is possible that your computer is being controlled via the Internet. This doesn't have to be the case, but would explain the symptoms you describe.

I would scan the computer with a live cd to check for viruses.

You can download the so-called "System Rescue CD" here:

    http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distrib...

You should then burn to disk.

Boot the computer with the cd you just burnt.

The instructions on how to do a virus scan are here:

    (bottom of the page)

If this doesn't help, it might be simpler to think about reinstalling Windows
