Why won't my direct tv dvr record automatically anymore?

I've had my dvr for a few months now and it worked fine, but all of a sudden it stopped recording things. It usually switches to the channel to record, but now it doesn't even though it's scheduled to record. If switch to the channel myself it starts to record.... I'm not sure what's wrong did I push a wrong button? How do I get it to record automatically again? Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

you didn't mention which model rec. you have. you may have an issue with a recent software update. usually you can fix it by pushing the rest button. if that doesn't work, you ll need to call 1 800 directv for tech support. while on the phone make sure you have the most resent version of their dvr. they have had issues with the first two after they stopped using TiVo
