My female Peking duck just layed her first ever eggs. She had four of them but she is not sitting on them when I am around. Why isn't she sitting on them?

  1. Because since she's been in captivity, she hasn't had a model from whom to learn. This is part of the problem with having such animals as pets.

  2. If she's young and this is her first batch of eggs then she likely does not know what to do.  Do you have other female ducks?  If not, then there won't be anyone to show her what to do.  Get another duck or two with experience and in time she'll figure it out.

  3. The eggs are probably dead get an egg and put a flashlight next to it you can see the chick inside.
