Question:

Why won't my laptops find any wireless networks?

Today I was on my laptop, and the internet worked fine up until 12:35pm. We have a computer hooked up to a modem, and it has a wireless button that is turned on still as of now. My laptop was connected, but just suddenly, it disconnected for no reason. I tried reconnecting or finding other networks, but it says that no wireless networks are in range, no matter how many times I refresh the list. Usually I get a couple, including my home's wireless internet, but now I don't get any connection at all? Any help??

  1. Someone just installed a new wireless-N router next dooe or across the street, and it's killing your signal.

Try changing the channel on your router.  There are 11 available, and the default is 6, so everyone i the hood is bouncing around on the same channel, unless they have changed it, but nobody does.

It's in the setup section of the router.

Your comp. will automatically find the right signal, based on your network name

  2. try unplugging the router for like 10 seconds just to let it restart itself.

  3. the thing's that you have to buy a Mac.

  4. I think somebody already gave you the answer.  However, it does not sound like your wireless has security set on it.  I suggest going into a Yahoo chatroom in one of the computer lobbies, and see if anybody can help you live one on one to get your wireless secure.

  5. cuz maybe u dont have 1!

  6. I doubt zwinky caused it. On your laptop, do you have a wireless button to turn it off and on? It might be turned off. If not, try restarting the laptop. If that doesn't work, test to see if your laptop works with a network cable plugged in. If it works fine, I'd go and redownload the driver from your manufacturer.

    Hope that helps.
