Why won't my lime wire work? I just downloaded it and took off my windows fire wall and I do not have vista. ?

You should be able to have limewire working even with your firewall on.. I would recommend turning you firewall back on and making sure there is an exception for Limewire to run, to do this follow these steps:

Start/ Run/ Type "firewall.cpl" press enter

Have firewall on Make sure the box with "dont allow exceptions" is NOT checked.. Click on the exceptions tab find the limewire entry and make sure it is checked if not check it and apply the changes..

Another thing that could cause limewire to not function could be that you dont have Java runtime enviroment installed, this is a critical piece of software for limewire. Yahoo search Java runtime enviroment and go to the sun microsystems website and download the latest copy or just go here: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.j...  ...

Hey mine doesnt work either it was made illegal a few years ago so i think they may have stopped it working but i don't know the corrrect answer sorry x
