I couldn't open a word file on my flash drive so I moved it to the desktop and it still won't open. I opened it on a different computer several minuted ago but this one won't work. On the desktop, it's symbol is a box with a blue margin on the top and three shapes inside the box. The shapes are red and green.

  1. If that's a .docx file, it was written by Word 2007.  Your best bet is to download the free Microsoft Compatibility pack, which will make your previous version able to read and write .docx files.

    Hope that helps.

  2. may be that file may have been written in 2007 version... u may have older version of the set up... check whether ur file and ur set up are of same version or the the set up to be latest version

  3. Please look at the full file name and see if it ends in .doc or in .docx

If .docx, then you need Word 2007 to open it, or the Word 2007 viewer.

  4. What version of Microsoft Word?
