Question:

Why won't my new DVD play my old discs, even though they are both the same kind?

I had a Samsung DVD recorder and replaced it with a Panasonic. I checked to be sure that they both played the DVD+RW, and thought that I was all set to go. Now, however,I find that although the new recorder works fine most of the time, when I try to play discs I had recorded on my old machine, the new one simply can't "see" them, and sits there waiting for a disc to be inserted.

I have precious home movies here that I can't watch. Is there ANYTHING I can do?

  1. use your old machine to make sure u got that enabled viewing on an other recorder or player read the Manuel for the samsung recorder.

  2. Check your old DVDs formats,if your new recorder support them than no problem will accrue,if not than download that formats(encode).
