Why won't my s-video input show up on my tv?

i have a really nice computer that i know has all the stuff needed for supporting s-video by far, and my tv is good too, but when i plug my s-video into my output in my computer into the s-video input on my tv it won't show up on my tv and i don't know why. is there a certain thing i need to change on my computer like a setting or somthing so i knows to send it?

Make sure the resolution is not higher that 640x480. That's the max s-video can support.
