Why won't my site show up in a search?

Have added meta tags, but it does not show up

The tags are used for the indexing but to get listed high in the list you must have many links from other sites to yours. In fact if there are no links a search engine can't even find you. It follows links to create the index. Exchange links with other sites that have basically the same type of site.

Somewhere on each search engine there is a link where you can add your account to the next web crawl. It will still require other links to get indexed at the top.

You have to register your sight with each search engine separately for that search engine to show it when you search for it
