Question:

Why won't my video play???

I was editing my video in Windows Movie Maker and it was working fine until about a minute in when the video wouldn't show and there was no audio. The only thing that appeared was some captions I'd added in. Basically, there's a black screen with some words at the bottom which I've added and it still plays because the time line moves. Does anyone know why this happens and how I can fix it? Thanks

  1. This sort of issue is usually caused by the power of your PC. The editing process will use ALL the CPU power, ALL the available graphics card capability and ALL the RAM.

I would begin by checking the spec of the PC against the minimum requirements for Movie Maker. Remember that many PC's share the available RAM installed with the graphics card so what might look like enough RAM might not be - if that's the case you'd do best to consider a new, more powerful, graphics card.

The fact that it works at first suggests that the problem sits with the available RAM; at first there is enough but as you progress the program demands more and more RAM to display the data (video).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but hope it helps sort the issue.
