Why won't people just buy gas now before it becomes more expensive?

For some reason gas is cheaper in the winter so wouldn't it be a good idea to load up on tanks of gas & store them in the garage for the summer? Gas this summer probably will be avg. around $4.20 & will hit record highs as it does every year. So when that happens it'll probably be about $4.50.

I mean after all this is kind of like an investment & whoever does that would be saving money. They could even sell their gas to other people when it's really expensive.

Gas degrades after it is refined.  The gasoline you put in your take will only last a few months before it will degrade to the point that it may start to cause damage to your engine.  Even if it dosen't damage your engine, it runs much less efficiently.  The $0.30 a gallon you save in cash will quickly get eaten up by losing 10 mpg in fuel efficiency.

I agree with the other answerer. Its not worth it & besides its not safe enough to store it juz anywhere in your home. That only might put you & your house in danger coz gas is very inflammatory & may result in fire.

Without fuel stabilizers, gas starts to go bad after a month.  With the cost of the fuel stabilizers, it wouldn't save you any money.  I wish this would work, I'd do it myself!

Sorry but that is a ridiculous question.

You can't do that unless you want to go to the expense of  buying a 1000 gallon tank and burying it in the ground.

Gas is very dangerous to be stored because the fumes are flamable, and one spark is all that is needed to have a BIG explosion.

The guy above is correct that gas will go bad; but it does not go bad in a month; but it will deffinately go bad in 6-9 months.

I just realized that with all these answers, I was screwed with because of that show on Discovery Channel. they showed the guy storing gasoline because it was very expensive.
