what kind of way is that for their own party to treat them?

Bush has been a great president and defended our country and this is how he is treated? What is wrong with those convention organizers?

This is outrageous and shameful !!!

  1. They're busy in Washington.  Bush was supposed to show up in person, but changed plans in case Gustav turned out to be as bad as feared.

  2. Hey, he's in charge of the military...You would at least think he could go where he wanted in his own country! Guess we're too busy taking care of other countries...

  3. Because they are cowards and idiots.

  4. They are busy at the White House and Oval office, keeping the country safe and protected.

  5. Because they are going to go HUNTING.

  6. it has nothing to do with the party... it was bush and cheney's choice not to go. of course the GOP wouldn't tell them "we don't want you here." that's ridiculous. I don't know what cheney's excuse is but bush is blaming his absence on Gustav and now on Hanna and Ike, saying that he needs to be in the south where people are in trouble. I just wonder why he hasn't felt that way about being in Iraq where his American soldiers could use some help...

  7. I think it was because of the Hurricane. I agree with you that Bush has been a rock solid president and did not waver or change his mind because of polls numbers.

I like to think that Bush’s statement tonight is an honest one. We need a republican president and McCain’s VP pick has very positive indicators that he has taken the conservative message to heart.

  8. Because at a distance they can praise him and bash him at the same time.  It helps to be schitzoid.

  9. This is your chance to change your affiliation.  You're right to point this out.  In the last election, the GOP wanted a president who had no military experience.  Now they are turning their back on him and saying that only true Americans have served in a war.  It's time to see the light and come on over to the left.  Welcome.
