Question:

Why won't some states pass Jessica's law

Currently, Hawaii, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Vermont, Illinois, Colorado, Wyoming and Idaho have refused to pass a form of Jessica's Law (which is mandatory sentencing standards for child s*x offenders.)

Other states either already have passed a form of the law or are working their way toward it. But these 8 states have either refused to pass it or are at a standstill in the legislature.

What would possibly be keeping these states from protecting their children? It makes no sense to me.

  1. Massachusetts already has strict laws on the books.  We need to use the laws we have.

  2. Coming from NJ, they tend to shy away from such strict standards.  The state politicians like having things more open-ended almost to just people everyone.  They also stil think that jail is about rehabilitation.

  3. not to support s*x offenders, but mandatory sentencing standards of any type takes power away from judges and juries; each case should be handled individually

  4. cuz as Bill O'Reilly says they're pinheads.T

  5. To many people of the cloth would be prosecuted

  6. Because people think it is not that big of deal!  That is why they passed a law recently saying that killing a child rapist couldn't be done any more!  Kill the sickos!  That way they can't do it to my babies!
