Why won't the aux input on my pioneer premier head unit work?

I plug the 35mm double sided wire into the input on the back of the stereo and plug it into my ipod and the stereo doesn't sense the ipod. why?

  1. The head unit won't sense a connection through the auxiliary input jack; you just have to select "aux" as a source and play the iPod.  If "aux" doesn't come up as a source selection, you'll have to enable the auxiliary mode in the head unit's setup menu.  Make sure you're plugged into the right jack.  Many Pioneer head units have a wired remote jack right next to the auxiliary jack on the rear.
