Why won't the freezer section of my refrigerator freeze and can I fix this myself?

Question

We have a GE Monogram side by side refrigerator/freezer. Instead of freezing things solid, everything is mushy. The refrigerator side seems to be working ok. Thanks.

sounds like a compresser is going bad call ge !! unless u have accsess to freon u can not fix it your self

Be sure and check to see if the ground on the plug in is intact and make sure the plug in it's self is working properly!  I have seen a refrigeratop not work because of the ground wire not working!

Check for dust accumulation on the coils- either in back or underneath. Use a vacuum. Thats about all you can do, except adjust the thermostat. Maybe the cooling fan is blocked or burned out. You should be able to hear the fan running.
