  1. organic farming doesn't create much economic activity because yields are minimal and it does not boost the businesses of fertilizer and pesticide companies. these companies also export to the world. so if the government pushed organics, it will means less jobs, less exports, less produce of non-organic stuff as well.

  2. Trust me, as an ex-farmer (Yep, an ex-farmer,) you don't want the government messing around in your farming business.  The governmenet is totally ineffecient when it comes to running agricultural programs.

If you let the government subsidize your crop, they can and will:

    1)  Have total control over what you can and can't plant.

    2) Will suggest you plant XYZ maize sorgum, wheat sorgum, etc.

    3) You will work your hardest to make it the best crop that's ever been seen.

    4)  You will spend ungodly amount of money to do so.

    5)  The government will, at it's leisure (And I think being totally stupid,) tell you that there is a surplus and that you must plow your wonderful crop under, (oh, they'll pay you the disaster rates, but they won't begin to cover what you've spent.)

  3. They want people to die early... you should about the problem of poplation in Asian countries.

  4. The American government tells the world they don't subsidize anything.  They refuse to buy products from countries who do.  It messes with free trade.

  5. Get a big oil company to start selling you your "organic" and the money will pour in...otherwise you may as well just plow p**p into your fields and hope for the best!

  6. In future organic farming willl  be subsidized by a world govt. not the way the USA does subsidizeing rich and lazy farmer's, with all kind's of theoretical withdrawal, price parity's, equalization, tariff re im bursement's, anti import voucherization, hundred's of way's the midwest and fed's sleep in harmony with industrial ag as the wave of their future.  Now that we know the world is overpopulated and people should feed themselve's, the govt. of the world have to alibi their negligence of what they did to hurt small organic farmer's, if you want to farm organically do it, but be careful uncle sap don't get you, in some way...

  7. Because they would have to take the money from your pocket( its your idea) and re-rout it through other agency hands because they need to use your money too and when that agency gets through with the handling fees government will charge them( making a tidy profit) and your money finally reaches Washington and into the law makers hands where it stays in a bank to collect a tidy profit of interest . you may or may not get an approval even though your money passed through all the hands, you still loose but they end up with your money and your idea. pretty smart of them folks in Washington.

  8. It's too little to matter

  9. The government (USDA) DOES subsidize organic farming, in the same way that it subsidizes many other crops.  They pay the lions share of both the (premium and the indemnity in the event of a loss) on Multi-Peril Crop Insurance coverage, referred to as MPCI.  (This is part of the USDA's Farm Bill) For a crop to be insured as organic, it must meet very specific criteria as defined by policy, special provisions by crop and county and by other crop insurance rules.  A crop insurance agent could provide you with additional information or you can research it yourself at www.RMA.USDA.gov.

  10. erub organic and erub government
