It says in the manual that if this occurs then i've to change the battery on it. There is no battery that I can see. I'm not being thick, i've had two mates (one a handyman, the other an electrician) have a look at it and they can't figure it out. I can't get in touch with the company. Any ideas?

  1. I found this on the web.  It seems Parkinson makes spark generators in both battery and wall current varities. You should be able to tell if there is electrical service to your oven.  A battery operated one would have to have a battery box in the circuit somewhere.  If you find a small black metal box in the circuit that is probably it.  If there is none you probably have one that works with wall current.  If you can read any markings on the generator, the battery operated one is 1.5v DC.  The wall current one is 240v AC.
