we have a 100 gallon fish tank that has about 10- 15 fish in it. we just got a new batch of fish in, and one of them won't eat. he is one of the bigger ones, so i know he is not getting picked on, but at the same time i know he isn't picking on the smaller ones because he just keeps to himself in the corner. it's like he is depressed or something. any help?

sorry i don't know what kind it is, but it's like 4 inches long, football kind of shape, dark blueish grey and mick jagger lips. thanks! freshwater too

  1. That sounds like a parrot cichlid, they can be very shy at first and also they have deformed mouths.

I'm not 100% sure it's aprrot fish but it sounds like one.

    Hope this helps!

  2. maybe he don't like yo nasty cookin'

  3. well the shock from going from one tank to another tank may be depressing him, some fish are more hardier then others, also the temperature of the tank might not be right for him

  4. some fish take longer to adapt to a new enviroment give him time to adapt.

  5. if it is a new fish it is probs stressed i wouldn't worry it will be eating you not looking if you are really worried though i would call you nearest vet

  6. Not all fish adapt quickly to their new surroundings.  He is just getting used to his new home.  Give him a couple of days he should come around.

  7. Give him some time some fish just need more time than others to adjust to their new homes

if I were you I would also find out what kind it is the main reasion is so that when you decide to add new fish it will be easier for you or a pet store clerk to advise you if the new fish are compatable with the curent fish you have

if the new fish doesn't show signs of eating in a few days feel free to contact me
