Why won't we have a Friday practice at Monaco Grand Prix, Formula 1?

I just read that there won't be a Friday practice, there will be one on thursday. To be honest I don't remember if it always happens like that, on a thursday.

I remember last year with a friday practice.

Can anybody help?

  1. It's so the roads can be opened to the public again on the Friday. It's always been the case at Monaco that the two practice days are Thursday and Saturday.

  2. I'm not sure why, but yeah I remember it was on thursday last year too. Found this: "Uniquely in the F1 world, free practice will take place on Thursday, with Friday being a 'day of rest' for the teams. Preparations will continue, however no running occurs from Thursday afternoon to Saturday morning."

    by the way..

Somebody please take out the troll, trolls attract other trolls. They're like cockroaches or something, they have sort of antennae that emit signals to nascar trolls to come and bring trollness to our peaceful formula 1 section.

  3. As Monaco is run on public roads... they still have to be used as much as possible... so traditionally first practice is run on the Thursday to allow the roads to be used on the Friday....

  4. i think it coincides with another race(gp2), the first race on friday will coincide with the practices' time.   like last yr... it was also a thursday practice... check this out:  http://www.formula1.com/results/season/2...
