Why wont Iran allow Sunnis to have a Mosque in Tehran?

I have three Irani friends who are sunni, and they hate Iran for this. We allow them to enter Saudi Arabia, and do pilgrimage, so why doest Iran allow other people to practice their faith freely?

The information your friends gave you is %100 wrong.

Socially , historically and legally, there is no limitation or obligation against keeping personal faith in Iran.

Even in Mashhad , which is the most important s**+'e holy city in world, with majority of %99 s**+'e population, we have 3 mosques for sunnies and 2 church for christians. I have christian classmates in government school and they were free to attend in quran classes or play in the yard.

Jews , christians , sunnies , Ashoories have their own chair in Iran Parliment.

The only forbidden religion in Iran is BAHAI . they can not have their own mosque.

Wish you do not believe everything you are told in the future.

Hey - You do not know how hard it is for a Shia to live in Saudi Arabia without being murdered. Pilgrimage is for all Muslims. It's not like the Saudis built a SPECIAL pilgrimage for Shias.  The sunnis in Iran want a SPECIAL mosque for them.

There are sunnis in some provinces of Iran, few christian and jews too

All have their worship places.

But in Saudi Arabia where 30 % of population are shiites are not allowed to teach or preach.Only they can maintain some old mosques.

in all (I repeat ALL) cities sunnis have mosque. in some places they have in every town. it is not true.

I agree with you that Iran gov. have problem with non-Muslims but it that you said not true....

Hm..to my knowledge, majority of Iranians are s**+'a Muslims.

There must be some sort of a clash there with Sunni Muslims. Not sure.

Most sunni minorities in iran are usually arabs and afro-iranians, and no one really likes them in tehran... Culturally, ethnically different, so that is why.

Anyways iran is shia kingdom, however most people really dont care lol.

But, if they want to be sunni, why move to a shia city? same reason muslims complain about america, if they want to live in a nice islamic place why dont they move to saudi arabia instead of america?...

I'm living in Tehran. I'm not so religious but as I know there is no limitation for people to have mosque or church. It depends on their population and their financial ability. There are numbers of churchs only in Tehran. I don't know if there is sunnis mosque but if not, it means the sunnies didn't want to have it.

Roah dear, the people could care less. Its the govt who is in charge of allowing or not allowing sunni mosque, isnt it? If it were up to normal citizens, they could care less.
