Why wont US government separate church and state?

in new zealand were i live its happened and government WONT be screwed up by the centre right. and religion in public school is a very serious crime. and we havent had any wars or terrorist attaks

It IS seperate. God can't be mentioned anywhere in public, much less Public schools. How would you know since you live in New Zealand?

Next question: Why don't people like you ever question Muslim countries where young men and women are trained to blow themselves up to get to 72 virgins?

The Ignorance of People never stops amazing me , The Separation of Church and State was not meant to Say that NO religion was allowed , It simply means that the Govt does not have a State Sponsored Religion IE : Church Of England .

Our Country ( United States) was Founded on Christian Ideals but NO WHERE does it say you have to be a Christian to live here . See We have this thing called FREEDOM OF RELIGION which means you are free to Worship or not anything or person you care to .

There is a natural tension. While the government is prohibited from interfering to any significant degree with religion, the reverse is not true, and should not be. Each of us has the right to his religion, even a popular one, and may use his religious views to guide his political ones.

Your paucity of wars and terrorist attacks is not likely related, at any rate. You are, after all, geographically somewhat isolated, with only two major ethnic groups and no great driving impact on the rest of the world's business and cultural development.

In response to the person who said church and state in the US is separated-- that's so untrue.  Yes, we preach it, and it's legally supposed to be separate, but it's completely not.  

The religious views of our president (not just GWB but any given president) affects the laws of the country.  If a president is against g*y marriage for religious reasons, they go and try to make g*y marriage illegal.  

So much for separation.
