I got a common snapper 3 days ago and he wont eat anything i put into the tank. I've tried crickets, grasshopers, worms, small fish, medium sized fish, etc, he wont bother to even snap at them let alone eat them. So what can i do to get him to eat, and what do i need to feed him if i havent given him the right type of food?

  1. well you could go out and by turtle food (like fish food but for turtles) or you could accept the fact that he might not be hungry

  2. 2 things to remember,  First it has just been introduced to a new environment.  Almost all exotic creatures have the possibility of no appetite up to a week.  Let him settle in.  Snappers are usually hardy eaters.   You didn't say if it was wild caught, or if you bought it from a pet store.  Wild caught will not like being couped up.  Better let him go, Where as captive bread snappers are use to it.    Also you did not mention how big he was snappers as a rule like a lot of room.

  3. Oh, you've got a great diet! It isn't that, with every newly aqcuired reptile you get, they have to get used to their sorroundings. Things to check are, if the temperatures are warm enough, if you've got enough heat in the basking area( enough uva and uvb is needed)and a correct setup. If you got all that then let him settle in, and its ok if he doesnt eat for 2 weeks, as long as you keep on trying.
