Why wont it grow a tomato!?

Our tomato plant has been with us for 2 months now (my daughter brought it home from school when it was about 6in tall)

We keep it on the window ledge indoors because we think next doors dog will rip it up if we plant it outside. It gets sunlight all day long through the window.

We've re-potted it with good quality compost in a nice, large pot and it's grown to about two and a half feet tall but there is just no sign of any fruit.

We water it every other day but apart from that,we don't know what else to do with it - what could we be doing wrong?

  1. It will need daily water and feeding every 3 days with a potassium rich fertiliser(a brand tomato fertiliser will be fine), then once you get some flowers, you will have to prune anymore that come along off, to ensure the fruit you do get has a chance to ripen, you may want to get a little book on growing veg, because there is quite a lot you can do with a sunny windowcill.  Good luck, they beat the heck out of shop bought tomatoes.
