Ok heres the deal. I've had my civic for over a year and a half and nothing was wrong then sometimes it wouldn't start on the first try. then i would and every thing was fine. Then it started to just shut off at any random time. Hitting where the passenger side airbag is, would make the car come back on. a shop told me that the hitting was making the computer rattle so i got a new computer and still nothing. i've tried 3 brand new fuel pumps, and nothing happens. the spark plugs dont spark. the fuel pump dont turn on. I NEED HELP PLEASE

  1. Maybe the battery is dead

  2. you might want to check the main replay, honda is know for this problem, you might not be getting fuel to your motor.

This is located under the fuse box on the driver side.

  3. the shutting off at random times is caused by a problem with the ignition switch. Honda had a safety recall on that problem for all 1998-2000 civics.  the ignition switch is the electrical switch on the back of the key cylinder where you put the ignition key in to start the car.

take the car to any Honda dealer and they will do the ignition switch replacement recall at no charge to you. that is guaranteed to cure your problem with "shutting off at random"

you didn't describe the way the car doesn't start--if there is no response to turning the key it could be the ignition switch issue.  if it cranks but doesn't fire its something different. looks like you've spent a lot of money needlessly on the fuel pumps and computer.  get the recall done and go from there

    hope that helps

  4. You need to systematically troubleshoot. Turn key on, does battery provide power (lights, radio, wipers, etc. work)? If not then battery is dead. Bad battery not holding charge or alternator no longer charging. NEXT attempt to start car. Does starter turnover or just click......You need to see where the problem is isolated and  start corrections there.

  5. Email me at scottnethery@yahoo.com.  I will help you out.  Its probably a lot easier than anything you have done so far.
