I have 2003 altima 2.5L 4 cylinder with 80,000 miles. For about two weeks sometimes it would crank a couple of times before it started and sometimes it would just start right up. Now it started then died after about a second of running and all it does is crank. IT WONT START. HELP!

  1. I usually see this problem associated with a bad or faulty Crank Position Sensor.    Suggest disconnect the electrical connector and inspect for engine oil in it..  sensor is located on the right side of the engine block (closest to the firewall), near the trans. bellhousing, by the motor mount bracket. Under the starter.

Nissan has came out with an updated CKP sensor, its metal and not all plastick.   If no oil exists then may have a key regstration problem. the dealership will need to re-register if thats the case.

do you have access to a scan tool? if so a key problem would show a "NATS Malf", or "Difference of key" or "Lock Mode" or any combination of the three.

May or may not show a crank pos code/DTC.
