Why wont my 89 ford start after i hooked the battery up backwards, im not getting any fire?

  1. you probly distroyed the battery


  2. you probably burnt out about a half dozen components.  start with the fuse box.

  3. Because you probably blew every fuse in the car or you fried the computer.    

  4. My 89 Mustang I did the same thing.  There is a fuseable like,  if you follow the wires off the battery pos side, there will be a plastic box molded on the wire you will need to replace it


  5. There are rectifiers in the ignition and computer.

    You might have fried one, but first check for blown fuses.

    You might have got lucky and been protected from your mistake.

  6. its a safty feture  you blew a fuseable link  

    follow the pos cable to the starter soloinoid  see the small wires there lightly pull on them one will brake off replace that one and you will be fine

    its there to protect the alternator from what you did to the car

    all other items are protected by there own diodes  they will be ok
