I have a blackberry pearl it came with all software that I needed to sync up with computer, in fact I have transfered photos several times. For some reason now when I plug in the blackberry to the usb cable it doesnt make a connection, tried same cable same port with my wifes phone and worked fine. I am desperately tying to retrieve some pics from the phone, to make things worse the phones display is cracked and you cant see anything thanks to my six month old dog. HELP!!!!

  1. Does your computer recognize the device is present? If not then the desktop software will not be able to detect your device.  Try to force the device to be recognized by bringing up the desktop software, clicking on options and clicking detect. Reset the device by removing the battery and replacing it. (You will not loose data)   If you are able to detect the device, click on BACK UP and RESTORE, ADVANCED and a list of the data bases on you BB will appear.  The pictures might be there.  If they are you can move them from the device to the computer by clicking the appropriate arrow.

If all else fails, provided your device is detected, back up your device and restore it on a working Blackberry device. Again, I don't know if the pictures will be there or not.

Finally, once you recover from this disaster, please invest in the optional SD card and move your photos from device memory to the card after you take them.  Don't beat the dog! Hope this helps or gives you some ideas.  Good luck.

  2. If it worked before and it does not work after the dog incident than its probably the dogs fault for breaking more than the screen... not a CPU problem!???? Take your phone in and get it checked.
