Why wont my dogs go in their houses when its raining?

Question

i showed both of them how to go in their house and stuff... its raining outside now and they're just outside, standing still, in the rain, tails curled. i don't get it, there's 2 dog houses, one for both

I think it might be a case of, if they are wet, they look pitiful.  If they LOOK pitiful, you will take pity on them and bring them inside where it is warm and dry. :)  Our danes do the same thing.  When it rains, they suddenly come out of the dog house, get soaking wet, and bark at us to bring them in.  Granted, our male is afraid of thunder, but they do it in quiet rainshowers, too.

Ha, that sounds like my springer spaniel! He has a lovely kennel that my husband built for him, it even has a little window so he can look out of it! But he will just sit there and get drenched when its raining, he wont go in his kennel!! I think that maybe he just likes to get soaked! Maybe they like the rain!!

Our dogs are like that. My husband and I seem to think that they like the way the rain feels. It kinda cools them off and washes their fur off. Sorry I dont have a better answer.

Maybe they like playing in the rain...

Maybe they are a breed that enjoys water...

For instance.. My German Sheppherd will play longer when it is raining outside than when it is dry out...

water washes away their scent, the same reason they roll in dead animals

Siberian huskies wont use any kind of shelter, they let the snow fall on them thus creating a warm "igloo" under the snow.  They know what they are doing

Are the roofs of the doghouses shingled?  A dogs hearing is alot better than ours..could be that the sound of the rain might bother them.  Just a different point of view..if a dogs tail is tucked..doesn't like something there...not 'enjoying' the rain.  Do you have any blankets, rugs in the doghouses?  Something to make it like home..thier own house.
