  1. I've been waiting 2 years for a tax rebate. I should have kept a record of stamps, phone-calls, etc. I bet it cost me as much to get, as the tax-man is going to give, when he/she gets around to it.

ADVICE do not borrow from loan sharks!

  2. I assume you have asked your employer? If yes, & he has refused, make an appointment with your nearest tax enquiry centre to seek advice. The tax office should have details of your pay & tax as by law, the employer has to do this. If he hasn't they will be very interested!!

  3. It takes forever. Not a quick process. The problem is that there is nothing much the tax office can do. They can send employer form P36B, but if he doesn't reply, that's it. Tax office can do an investigation. Even if employer is charged interest, penalties and any undeclared employees' contributions, that doesn't get you your form P60, and because your employer's affairs are confidential, you won't be told of the outcome.

Try phoning the call centre number on your last notice of coding, or go in to see staff at your local enquiry office. I don't know how long ago you wrote, but HMRC has a target of replying in 28 working days. Ask staff to look at your record to see if information on employer's return now imput. I wouldn't be too hopeful at this time of the year, it takes months.

If information there, staff can give you a signed letter on headed notepaper, showing pay and tax. That has equal status to form P60 for the purposes you want.

  4. Surely you should contact your employer directly - unless they are being dodgy it shouldn't take long.
