Why wont my gerbil use his runner ball?

well he seems young, so maybe he just hasn't figured it out yet. keep trying. sometimes it depends on the personality of the gerbil. i had a runner ball for mine, but one would run in it, and the other one couldn't figure it out or was just lazy, lol.

YOU SHOULDN'T GIVE HIM ONE.

Runner balls should not be used for gerbils as they can hurt their sensitive feet and can also catch their tails in the slits and rip them right off!

So it's a moot point if he enjoys it or not; don't make him use it!

Most gerbils don't enjoy those balls. It's best not to force him in there. I would recommend you just let your gerbil run around in the bath tub for some exercise or get him a wheel.

How old is he?If he's passed his "middle years" then you can't expect him to run.If he's young,he maybe just doesn't feel like running.Or he may be afraid of running in front of you.
