Why wont my ice maker work in my refridgerator?

i never had a refridgerator with a icemaker. we got this one used, they said the icemaker works. we hooked up the water but it wont make ice. is there something were susposed to do to make it go on?

Ive just come accross this problem with mine and it was that the water filter needs changing. Once the filter has expired it wont let water through. (thats the filter on your refridgreator

Because it goes in the freezer.

Have you checked the obvious? The bar being down inside, a clog or kink in the water line, tray (holder) is pushed in all the way? Hope it's one of these things, otherwise I can't help. Good luck
