Why wont my mpeg-4 file go on my ipod?

i have a 30 gb ipod video. i want to put a video on there its in mp4 format but itunes tells me it cannot play on this ipod. why is this?

  1. not all the mp4 videos can add to itunes, ipod supports up to 640*480 resolutions, you need a professional third party software to convert your videos to MP4 videos,

  3. hmmm. import the file, then highlight it.

    go under "advanced"

    select "convert to aac"

    now it should workkkk.
