  1. If you don't have an amp hooked up to it or even a box, it won't sound anything like it should.


  2. The diameter of the wire will not affect the sound at all. It's not like the diameter of a hose or anything. If anything, the smaller the diameter the hotter the wire will get because of the friction between the atoms. Basically, use the wire supplied, suggested in the manual etc. Volume is going to come down to the brand of sub you have, maybe get a higher quality one or one that is rated at higher amps & volts.

  3. what type of sub do you have (watts) and what kind of amp do you have (watts).  Maybe your subs are rated for more wattage than what is being produced and you should upgrade.  or maybe you need to buy better brands.  As for wires, i wouldnt worry so much about diameter, but i would check connections to make sure everything is right and tight.  Hope it helped.
